- Dog Jump Competition Measurement System
Dock Dogs, “The World’s Premier Canine Competition”, approached IRIS about developing a system to measure the distances that dogs jump in their competitions. They had an aging system, and wanted a more automated way of scoring the contestants.
IRIS utilized the base of their video package to develop a customized version for Dock Dogs. With it the scorer starts the system and presses stop when the dog hits the water. The measurement is based on the point that the tail/body intersection hits the water. He can then index through the video to find the exact frame where the dog’s tail hit the water. Since the system is easily calibrated to the water surface, all the scorer needs to do is click on the point Tail/body intersection, and the score (jump distance) is automatically displayed.
